Not happy with your chin? We are experts at reshaping your chin and jaw line using dermal fillers!
Dermal fillers are commonly used to combat the signs of ageing by using non-invasive, non-surgical methods. Often, when we think about anti-ageing aesthetic facial treatments, the most common ones that spring to mind are used for filling wrinkles and plumping cheeks and lips. However, reshaping your chin and jaw line using dermal fillers is also possible.
What causes a sagging jaw line?
‘Jowls’ is the name given to the sagging skin that appears below your chin or jaw line as you age. Almost everyone will develop jowls over time, as the skin becomes thinner and less elastic.
There can be many factors that lead to the development of jowls including; genetics, smoking, exposure to the sun, using certain facial expressions, weight loss and extensive use of telephones and computers.
Reshaping your chin and jaw line and treating jowls.
As you get older, collagen and elastin production starts to reduce and the skin around your mouth loses its firmness and then begins to sag. Using dermal fillers is a great solution. The filler is injected into your chin and neck to fill in the jowls and to make them appear less saggy. The dermal filler used by the Eden Medical Clinic promotes the production of collagen and elastin by your body, so any subsequent treatments should require the use of less injected material.
The dermal filler is placed in the gap between the chin and the jowl. It will not elevate the jowl, but it will mask it by providing a smooth transition from the chin to the jaw line by filling the hollow.
How does the treatment take place?
A prescription anaesthetic cream is applied to the injection sites 15-20 minutes before the treatment takes place. The filler is then injected at precise locations and the skin is massaged to smooth out the material.
How long will the treatment last?
Depending on the areas treated and the metabolism rate of the patient, dermal fillers can last from 6-12 months. The Hyaluronic Acid in the filler is broken down by the body so you will need repeat treatments in order to maintain a specific look.
Who can avail of this treatment?
This treatment is available to anyone who is not pregnant or breastfeeding.
