First, a local anaesthetic cream is applied to ensure your comfort. Fine needles, preloaded with the threads, are then carefully inserted under the skin. These threads have small barbs that are activated by gently pulling the threads. It causes the barbs to hook into the subcutaneous layer of the skin. This action tightens and lifts the skin, achieving an immediate rejuvenating effect.
The treatment takes about an hour. You’ll be able to see the changes as they occur, allowing you to approve the results in real time. After the needles are removed, the threads are securely knotted and concealed beneath the skin. These threads will naturally dissolve over 6-9 months. The lifting and firming effects can last up to two years, as they also stimulate collagen production in the treated areas.
What to Know About Thread Lifting
Thread lifting is a non-surgical method of achieving a younger-looking face and neck by implanting very fine threads of polydioxanone, which have small barbs all along their length, in the subcutaneous layer of the skin. When pulled, the threads plump the skin and produce a smoother look. Polydioxanone is a biodegradable substance used in sutures, so the effect will only be temporary.
